Jupiter Hit by Comet


Astronomers are saying that it is possible that Jupiter was recently hit by a comet. NASA has taken some pictures on Monday shows a dark patch in Jupiter’s atmosphere near the south pole of the planet. There is a "bright upwelling particles in the atmosphere" which astronomers believe is cause by the comet slamming on the giant planet.

JPL scientist Glenn Orton says,“we were extremely lucky to be seeing Jupiter at exactly the right time, the right hour, the right side of Jupiter to witness the event. We couldn’t have planned it better,”

Shuttle Launch Today

Bad weather and a lightning strike that hit space shuttle Endeavour last Friday caused NASA to postpone the launch. NASA hopes to finally have the shuttle launch today after the weather condition showed signs of progress towards a more favorable one for the launch.
