NASA and US Military Use iLASIK

The US Department of Defense and NASA are now using LASIK technology to increase their mission-critical personnel's performance. These two agencies in the US know that it is not only trough the best training that they could make their personnel perform their best but also through their perfect physical condition. Good eyesight is always the most important quality that members of the military must have in order to perform well in their duties. So to improve the vision of their specialized personnel who, in the performance of their duties, face physically demanding situations, the US Department of Defense and NASA are now using this technology that has benefited civilians in the last five years. According to Steven Schallhorn, M.D., a retired U.S. Navy captain and leader of clinical research and studies done for the DOD regarding the use of LASIK, NASA and the DOD have validated LASIK's safety and effectiveness, it has been proven that LASIK technology exceeds any established standard when it comes to safety and effectiveness.

Some people are apprehensive about undergoing the LASIK procedure but with proper LASIK information, they would surely lose all their fear about going through this kind of surgery. The newer and better form of this technology, iLASIK uses two lasers instead of only one. The first step involves mapping of the unique characteristics of one's eyes using wave-front technology. A computer guided laser then creates a cornial flap. This laser is computer guided so it is pricise. This procedure is much much safer than what was used during the earlier periods of LASIK because the hand-held microkeratome blade is eliminated.

Now that the US military and NASA are using iLASIK I am sure that you are now thinking about improving your vision with this technology.
