Major Nidal Hasan, the army psychiatrist who shot dead 13 people and wounded 30 others in the Fort Hood shooting could have killed more if it were not for Sergeant Kimberly Munley, a civilian police officer stationed at the base. Sergeant Munley is the first armed police officer to come on the scene when Hasan was having his shooting spree. Munley engaged Hasan and was able to stop him with four bullets. But Munley was also wounded, a bullet went through her legs. The act of Sergeant Munley is heroic, if she did not engage Hasan, more could have been killed or injured.
