Green Smoothie Recipes

I have no problem with eating vegetables because I grew up with vegetables. I could not live without vegies. My hubby is also like that, he really loves vegies. Our son has also inherited it from us, he also loves vegies and could not do without it. This post is for those who are not into vegies but would like to somehow put the vegies inside their system because their body need it. Here are some green smoothie recipes that I got from Examiner.com:

Summer Blueberry Greens Smoothie

Ingredients:

* 1/2 cup milk (soy, almond, oat, rice, or organic cow's milk)
* 1 banana (preferably frozen)
* 1/2 -1 cup washed organic baby spinach (make sure to drain off excess water to avoid soggy leaves)
* 1 cup blueberries (preferably organic)
* a few ice cubes (only if your banana is not frozen)
* honey to taste (or any other natural sweetener) - You may not even need a sweetener if the blueberries are sweet.

Directions.

1. Throw all the ingredients into the blender. If you're new to green smoothies, add 1/2 cup of spinach.
2. Blend. Taste. If necessary, adjust to your taste buds. If you're feeling adventurous, add 1/2 cup more baby spinach to get a big nutritional boost. Add more milk, ice, berries, greens, honey, or another fruit if you'd like. It's your smoothie and really you can't go wrong with smoothies so get creative and enjoy!

Mango Banana Greens Smoothie

Ingredients:

* A handful of cashews
* 1/2 cup of water
* 1 tbsp pure maple syrup (or any other natural sweetener)
* 1 banana
* 1 mango
* 1/2 romaine lettuce heart

1. Throw cashews into blend with water and maple syrup. Blend until creamy. If it's too thick, add a bit more water.
2. Add banana and mango. Blend. The consistency should be creamy and drinkable. If it's too thick, add a bit more water.
3. Add romaine lettuce. Blend. If the consistency is like a milk shake, you're all done. If not, add a bit more water. You don't want this smoothie to be too thick or thin.

*These ingredients are blended separately because of the blender. If you have a high powered blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec, then simply throw all the ingredients in at one time.
