ABC has a somewhat timely (because of all the talk about apocalypse 2012) TV movie which will air on June 21 and 28. This is the Impact movie. Do you remember the movie Deep Impact? That movie which I guess was made in 1998 was about an asteroid hitting Earth. It was a high-drama film. Now ABC is having Impact movie which looks like a modified version of Deep Impact. In Impact, a large space rock slams on the moon which causes the moon to veer towards Earth. Scary? Of course if it happens in real life. Anyway, hre is the trailer of ABC's Impact movie :

In the movie they show floating objects and people. But they forgot to mention that the atmospheric pressure changes due to gravitational changes would crush any living being. Totally unscientific.
Maybe this is a dumb question but if the Brown Dwarf rock that strikes the Moon in Imapact is so heavy wouldn't its mass have attracted all of the other less massive meteoroids and caused them to coalalesce into a large astroid. Either way, my point is: wouldn't it have been impossible for something with such mass/weight to hide among the various other meteroids?
Yeah - and they show debris floating above the moon - wouldn't that get 'sucked' back down to the moon

I totaly agree with OutputLogic. If gravity changes side, going from the Earth to the Moon, all the air in our atmosphere would suck up to the Moon, therefore everybody would die quickly suffocating. Please Mr Writers do not take us for simple minds. A sound one.
your assumption is incorrect,
the moon's pull cancels the earth gravity , that's why stuff starts to float, hence air pressure can just be smaller not greater.
I would expect that ear leaves the earth and sticks to the moon
maybe if we're lucky the extra gravity will suck all these stupid questions and comments out into space...
I cant begin to tell you how many scientific and physics issues i have with this movie. They say a stellar core fragment hit the moon - a brown dwarf fragment at that...such dense stuff that the moon is now 1.5 times the mass of the earth....then they dislodge the fragment with a nuke....what crap! The moon is .16 the earths mass so they are saying the frag is like 1.34 times the mass of the earth? Please tell me what nuke can move any mass that weight? Crap! Thats just for starters... Additionally if the moon were 1.5 times the mass of the earth, the point of gravitational equilibrium would be closer to the earth yes, but nothing would float up to the moon - everything here would still weigh exactly the same. Tides would be monstrous, yes but our atmosphere would not be "sucked away" that is simply not enough mass to do that. What would happen is that the earth and the moon would more radically orbit EACH OTHER - they already do - but to a very small degree...It would result in all kinds of problems with climate change, etc... but it would be a very long time before the orbits decayed and the moon and earth collided - if at all - we wouldn't have 28 days or whatever rediculous time limit the movie "scientists" calculated... unadulterated crap
That's why there is science... to help us determine certain theorem just to maybe, quite possibly, figure out if there is a way to save the planet and humankind and hopefully all species (kind of like noah's arc, for you simpletons) Duh! Fucking Tard.
