Volkswagen Recall

A defect in the DSG transmission system of some Volkswagen models has caused the company to recall 13,500 of its cars. Models included in the Volkswagen Recall are the Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, GTI and Eos cars built between September 2008 and August 2009. The problem with the DSG transmission lies in its temperature sensor which could trigger wrong warning messages on the dashboard by illuminating some warning lights. The transmission could also suddenly shift to neutral which is of course a safety hazard.

Yes indeed. My Sportwagen did it twice, in rush hour traffic, on the 118 freeway and 101 freeway in LA, on 8/3 and 8/4. Full neutral, racing engine and flashing PRNDS indicator. No accidents, we got off to the side. Shut off the engine and restarted, and the problem went away. Volkswagen was all over the car when I took it in. They had it for a week and described the problem to me exactly as stated in the recall. We still like the car, it's a great car, and our confidence in it came back right away. The problem could be a disaster though.
