Facebook Lite

I am a Facebook addict like most of you. I got mixed feelings when I learned that Facebook is currently testing a new and "faster, simpler version of Facebook" called Facebook Lite. Some Facebook user received this message upon logging in their account today:

A user who was chosen to be beta-tester described Facebook Lite this way:

It looks like a “FriendFeed-esque” version of Facebook.

The stream appears to be reduced to just status updates, likes, and comments – no activity stories, application stories, or embedded content appear. In addition, profile page tabs have been moved to the left side of the page, all basic info and small profile boxes have been removed, and the publisher is not open by default.

Here's what a Facebook spokesperson said about Facebook Lite:

Facebook Username

What is your Facebook username? If your Facebook username is quite common, I am advising you to go directly to Facebook now and grab your vanity URL before someone with the same name grabs it first. As for me, I am not really concerned because my name is not that common so I know that nobody would be taking it away from me. But nevertheless, i have already changed my former Facebook profile URL to my new Facebook vanity URL.
