The person who killed John Lennon 30 years ago would like to get out of jail. Mark David Chapman is now up for parole for the sixth time. His first attempt at parole was in 2000 then again in 2002. He again attempted in 2004,2006,and 2008. He was denied parole in those time because of concerns about the safety of the public. Yoko Ono also made sure that Chapman stays in jail.
Chapman shot and killed John Lennon on December 8, 1980 outside the ex-Beatle's New York apartment. Lennon was shot four times in the back. Chapman did not run away after the killing, he waited for the police to arrive and arrest him in the crime scene. He was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
Now, he is scheduled to be interviewed by members of the parole board on August 9 and many people expressed their disapproval of the possibility that Chapman being allowed to walk the streets again. Many are afraid that he'll kill again or he'll be killed by some Lennon fan.
