Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor Dies at 79. According to her publicist, Taylor died in Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Taylor has been in the hospital in the last 6 weeks due to congestive heart failure. Taylor has been suffering with this condition for some years. Taylor was surrounded by her children at the time of her death, Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton.

A private family funeral will be held later, the publicist, Sally Morrison, said. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that contributions be made to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. A tribute page was set up on Facebook for fans wishing to send personal messages, the statement said.
