Picky Eaters

Little children are picky eaters, here's something from Associated Content that could help mommies who have problems with their children when it comes to making them eat good foods:

I didn't always like vegetables. Sure, I ate kid favorites like french fries and corn on the cob, and I even enjoyed green peas and baked beans. But boy, was I picky about the rest.

I'd eat baked potatoes, but only if I could leave behind the skin. I liked tomatoes one year, then decided they were too squishy the next. I loved salad, if by salad you meant cucumbers topped with cheese, bacon bits, and chow mein noodles.

I wouldn't touch mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes, cabbage, and shall I go on, or do you get the point? If it wasn't bread, cheese, or meat, odds are I wasn't interested.

When I grew into adulthood and moved out on my own, I decided it was time to let childhood prejudices go. It was embarrassing to ask my mom if she's eat the broccoli off my plate if I ordered the apricot chicken when I was in my 20s.

Still, while I'd shaken off my aversion to veggies like lettuce and celery years before, taking on the broccoli monster still sounded daunting. George H.W. Bush still hated broccoli in his old age, so who said I would be any different?

Off to the Hospital

I won't be able to post for a few days in this blog, but my husband would be doing it for me so you may continue following this blog.

My son is hospitalized, he's got the flu and the doctor says that there is a sign of pneumonia. I am worried. I'd be staying in the hospital to watch for my little boy. I guess my son was not able to adjust well with school, he's four years old. His classroom is fully air-conditioned and after class we go directly to the playground and let him play all he want. I guess the change from the coolness of the classroom to the hotness of the playground in the past few days has caused him to be sick. The results of all the medical tests on him would come out today, I know that everything would be alright, nothing beats prayers, God hears all prayers. Help me pray :(

Dinner Time is Family Time

Dinners should always be special. I do not mean to say that dinners should always be candlelit and the food should always be expensive. We may not have noticed it but dinner is the glue that holds the family together. Modern life is very busy and everyone is occupied with something. Breakfasts are always brisk because everyone is in a hurry because no one wants to be late. My family is young and small so it is only my husband who is always in a hurry during the mornings but I know that a year from now, our mornings would be spent hurrying (our little boy would be going to school next year) through the morning rush. Our lunch would not always be complete because there are time that my husband would decide to eat out or stay in the office to work, this is also true with other families. The parents have lunch in the work place and the children have it in school. So it leaves dinner as the only time when family members catch up with each other. Television must be turned off during dinner. Cellphones must be ignored. If it is dinner time it should be time to talk with family members. The little talks we have over dinner are actually what keep us together. We may take it for granted but family dinners keep family members close to each other. For me, family dinners are always special.

When it Rains it Pours

Our family has been receiving showers of blessings. For that I'm thankful c: The Lord has been so good, first both me and my hubbys blogs have received good PR ratings along with my blogger friends namely, Berry, Choco, Gem, and Pchi. Cheers to us!

Second are the opportunities that opens both to Pasti and me through the net are definitely endless, thank you Lord! c: Also the shower of blessing through the net for my other friend Maricris, she has an online store for jewelries and wreths which are proudly her creations c:

Just this weekend I saw my parents and celebrated my mamas birthday. It's a blessing because I haven't seen them for quite sometime and I was worried at how they are doing. Their health and all.

Another one is that I started communicating to my cousins in other countries so are my aunts. Thanks again to the net for that.

And lastly I found my mentor and old friend Joana through MBS2. We had our exchange of hi's thanks to Bariles. Once again thanx to the net for all this and to our rain maker our Lord c:

A Blessing by Choice

Been busy lately, and it's good to be back after a busy week last week c: It was my hubby's bday last monday (sept.22) the celebration was cut short because he had a flu :c he even refused to have a rest and absent from work. I had to scold him back to his senses :p

Friday I had to catch up with washing our clothes so I could prepare for Saturday. Because it was my mamas special day c:
Happy Birthday Mama ! ! !

I had to meet my parents at a mall in Marbel ( it's about an hour ride from our place). Surprised mama with a bouquet of flowers (lavender, pink and purple mumps coz those were her fav colors c:) She was so happy c: and so was I. We ate breakfast and lunch there to have a private party at a public place c:

We haven't met since June this year. Meeting them once a month energizes me and is essential to me because it also reminds me of how they did their best to be what I am today c: I want to make them proud by duplicating their love, care, love and respect for God and discipline to my own family c:

Meeting them brought both happiness and sadness to me. I can see how frail and sickly they have become. My mama has diabetes while my papa has heart enlargement. I just want to be by their sides but they gave up their comfort to build a church in Lake Sebu. They want to be a blessing to the T'Bolis (name of the tribes living there, featured them at my other blog) there with or without a support from our church. Tough for them and for me too, seeing them less provided by us their children specially for their medication. Nonetheless, I opted to give my best to provide them with medicine and supplies with the help of my brother too c: This will be my contribution to missions work not because I have to but because I want to. With God's help I can do all things c: Small is the amount I may give, still it will be a blessing to the ones who will receive it and all for...
the Lord's Glory c:

God bless you mama and papa for being a blessing to others c:
Am so proud of you both c:
The Lord shall reward your efforts with success!

Siesta Saturdays : Thank you Lord!

MABUHAY ! In the Philippine Islands, Siesta is a big part of each day. A time to take a break, nap or just unwind. It's but a lazy moment...

Zen Ventures

Todays question from Maricris is......

What are the things you are thankful for today? or are you like others who hold on to a grudge longer than life itself rather than be forgiving ? Are you a Negative or Positive ion?

Today my daily bible reading is exactly about things we are thankful for and one of those reminders are the answered prayers eversince my marriage c: and I have started a list of my blessings to be thankful for since then. Today here are the blessings I have or our family received and are thankful for this day.... And yes I am a positive ion because everyday is a miracle to me c:

1. Thank you Lord for my loving and understanding parents c: (never understood them until we became one ourselves c:)

2. ... for a loving and understanding husband (eversince we were just friends) c:

3. ... for our loving, bright and bubbly long haired little boy c: (our pride and joy c:)

4. ... for a house where to stay in (although still renting ).

5. ... for old and new friends on or off line c:

6. ... for good health.

7. ... for the job and on line opportunities now and to come c:

8. ... for the things we have that money can't buy c:

9. ... for the things we can now buy c:

10. ... for the blessings to come c: (yehey!)

... for all of these we Thank You Lord c:

Saturday Night Out

Now a days we have been fortunate to have new things to look forward too, friends and new blogs. The Lords blessings overflow and we thank Him for that c: And so we celebrated as a family last Saturday c:

I also told dad to spend quality time with Josh over the weekend because that is important for a growing boy emotionally essential so as for good memories of your dad too. I remember my father is a busy man. We seldom see him in the weekend because he comes home when we are sleeping already. So he makes up for us on weekends. He stays and plays with us, in the beach or watch a movie on Sunday nights. It was a fun, happy and cherishing memories. He even teaches all the sports he knows, ride bikes, swim, arnis, judo, table tennis, etc. He also reads us bible stories in the morning before breakfast c:

That is what I and my hubby are doing to make Josh feel he is important and that we love him in many ways c: His dad started teaching him about soccer and guitar plus keyboard playing c: He is also starting to show his love for painting water color and drawing in the computer.

So,we went out about 4 pm and arrived in the mall about 4:30 pm. We asked him where he wants to eat, Mc Donalds or Jollibee? He had a hard time choosing so I helped out. I told him the toys available in each store because both fastfoods have pretty much the same food choice for kids. He chose Mc Donalds because of the play area they have. There are 3 Jollibee located in malls in General Santos City and 2 Jollibee fastfood Restaurants on it's own while Mc Donalds has only 1 fastfood store here. He chose it because it has a play area while the others don't have it.

He had lots of fun sliding and running with other kids while I and his dad was contented watching him enjoy c:

Thanx mama n papa c:

Aside from my honey bunch, my mom would be celebrating her birthday soon c: I was hoping to see them last month but could not. Hopefully, we could arrange a joint celebration (a small family gathering) for her and my husbands birthday.

I just miss my mom so much, specially now that I have this very active little boy who reminds me of my childhood every time he experiments his capacity. He loves to climb gates, run and run, climb tables and chairs, etc. I can just imagine how my mom feels and what she does juggling around guarding us and doing her chores plus the fact that I'm a girl who has boyish activities in her head (I'm pretty much like my son when I was little). I have an older sister who is by the way just 1 year older than me and a brother who is 5 years younger than me. I don't usually get hurt and not the sickly type but is very sensitive because I'm a middle child. I felt left out and felt less loved which is not true (I later on realized it). And so I do sorts of stuff to get their attention (KSP kasi , kulang sa pansin).
Anyway, being a parent and a mother makes me realize and appreciate more my parents and most especially my mother. All the sleepless nights when your sick, the disciplining, the love and care, the multi-tasking. Boy, it's tough but it's worth it. I know my mom has heart aches even now at times on the things we do that annoys them, specially bad things. Also the dreams she and my father has planned and hoping (also for the best for you) that would be accomplished in your life. Plans to prosper you and give you hope, which at times did not happened. But onething is for sure, I'm glad that mama is my mom and papa is my dad. They had brought me up to love and respect God. Tought me the value of discipline, respect for the elders, etc. Thay had made me into a better and a respectable person that I am now. And I am happy and willing to share it to my son, with the thought in mind that he would be a better and good person that we his dad would be proud of some day. Even though he is still in the process I am willing to learn also from him. I just pray that I would be like my parents had (and is still is) be the best parent one can have.

Thank You mama and papa c: for everything c: For mama for being my first teacher on a lot of things because she is always with me eversince I was born, until now guiding me even through the cell phone.
( from left:) me, my mama, my papa and my brother marc

I can see that mothers are the first teachers, specially moms who are there for you especially on your primal years. Their discipline builds your confidence and prepares you to face the real world. Through encouragements on every achivement like learning to walk and standing up after the fall c: The dos and don'ts of things, don't cross the street, don't touch this..that, table manners, how to do it on your own, respect to elders and all that endless stuff that you need to remember. Tiring at times but it's worth it if you see him do it and do it without being reminded.

Tears on My Pillow

While I was doing my rounds yesterday, I left my son to play alone with his playmates outside. They started playing with his toy dump truck and some shovels. I heared them running towards our backyard as I blog. There was a pile of sand at the back and they love playing with it as if they were playing at the beach. This is one of their favorite games so I let them be dirty.

After a few minutes I heard a thump followed by a whimper. I ran outside and found Josh lying on his back trying to sit up. When he saw me he started to cry in pain, while holding his head. The truck was at his side. I asked him what happened, my neighbors told me he stepped on his truck and slipped. He kept on crying as his playmates watched him being carried by me to the house.

I bathed him so his wound will be cleansed at the same time he really needs a bath. While doing this he kept on crying. He does not want his wound on his elbow touched. After, I dried him up and put his clothes on him...with sobs on the side. I put him to bed to have his nap, still he crying.

He cries a lot when he gets wounds because he seldom gets those and when he does he puts all his hurt into it , hehehe c: Here's how he looked yesterday as he cried himself to sleep c: Kawawa naman :(

A Price for a Smile c:

I went to the market today with Josh. He was not suppose to tag along with me but his dad had to write something in the computer and he did not want his little boy bothering him as he worked. Josh wanted to play computer games and he was crying for help.

I was supposed to leave him behind because I saw that his playmates had arrived and I wanted him to get tired from playing so he could sleep early later in the evening. But instead he ignored Kyla and Klint (his playmates) and started bothering his dad to let him play with the computer. He was not in the mood to play with them. His dad was starting to raise his voice and little Josh started to cry. So, to make them stop I had to bring Joshua with me to the market.

On the way to the market my little boy was still teary eyed and I can still see protest in his eyes. I joked around to make him smile but no smile for me. We passed by the store for flip-flops and saw some kiddie slippers. I decided to buy him a pair and he gets to choose the design. At first I liked the color but when I had my 2nd glance I noticed that it had a Power Puff Girls print on it. I convinced him to look for a boy cartoon character but he insisted. I had to give in and here's the picture of his flip-flops choice.

new

I guess the print wouldn't matter when he's wearing it because you wouldnot see it when it's worn. He has his old slippers anyway to be worn when he goes out and the new one for playing only inside the house. Sometimes there is a price for asking for a smile c:

My Son's New Playmate

My son's days in the last three weeks were quiet different from what he used to know. He's got a new playmate who is much much older than he is. His cousin Ez-J is visiting us for more than three weeks now. He is 16, my son is 3, but they get along together well. His older cousin has taught him where to find the best flash games from the internet. He also learned new numbers (the two digits) from his cousin.

A Prayer

Lord, look kindly on my child,
so marvelously made,
fashioned by you from the womb.
Keep fear and trouble far away,
and any hand raised to harm
this child of mine.

And when life's storms come,
give my child rest,
as on a mother's breast.
In days to come
- which you alone know -
grant my child
eyes of faith for seeing far,
a loving heart for welcoming life,
hope that never despairs,
and a place always at your side.

O God,
I thank you for this precious gift,
and pray my child grows
wise and well.

"Train your child in the way they should go;
even when they are old, they will not swerve from it." --Proverbs 22,6

i got this poem from Cielo (Brown Pinay) it's so nice thanx Cielo

Of Flowers and Men

I love flowers but unfortunately, when my husband was courting me, he did not give me flowers. He courted me with his poetry, paintings, and long romantic walks and long romantic talks. The first time he gave me flowers was on our third wedding anniversary. He gave me a dozen red roses. I was really surprised because he just came home from work, knocked at the door and when I opened it there he was with the really unexpected dozen roses and a bottle of red wine. I was so happy i cried and hugged him. To preserve the flowers, I hung them on the wall to dry. It is still there today.

Another important memory with flowers was the first time my little boy gave me flowers, he was one year old then. He just picked a little yellow wild flower from our yard and gave it to me with a wide smile on his face. To preserve it and to remind me of that moment always, I pressed it in my bible so that every time I open it I will see the flower.

Today, my little boy, now three, made me smile again by pouring a bunch of flowers from his tiny hands on our table while i was preparing lunch. He ran outside again to get more. After pourning the second batch of flowers on the table, he ran to me and embraced me and said, "Love kita mommy", with a smile that melts the heart. I gave him a tight hug and said "I love you too baby". To preserve the moment I took a picture of the flowers my son gave me.

These are my most memorable moments with flowers and men. Yes, I had my share of men who gave me flowers but those times were not as memorable as these. I remember those flowers but not the feelings anymore. Sounds like the lyrics of a song? he he he
